Welcome to the Area 4 Republican Committee website!
In our best efforts to keep you informed in this pre-election period, we want
you to congratulate the newest group of endorsed republicans for the position of
Owen J. Roberts School Director. They comprise four (4) new faces with a vast
amount of executive experience, a heart for our children and a servant's mentality. They are John Stone, Kathy Waid, James
Frees II and Douglas Hughes. Three of the six candidates went through the Owen
J. Roberts School system and understand the investment that went in to their own
education and what trials they can expect ahead of them during their campaign
for election. Two of the six are returning veterans and compliment the others
with counterbalance of institutional memory: Bill LaCoff, an expert in the field
of education technology and East Vincent's own, Eric Scheib, whose continued
expertise with the Intermediate Unit is invaluable to our kids. I urge you to
support their candidacy and hold them to the standards expected of those holding
positions of special trust and confidence.
In this, the 200th anniversary of the birth of one of our greatest presidents, Abraham Lincoln, I reflect on some enduring quotes, as relevant today as they were during another time of great trial for our Country.
"If we have patience, if we restrain ourselves, if
we allow ourselves not to run off in a passion, I still have confidence that the
Almighty, the Maker of the universe, will, through the instrumentality of this
great and intelligent people, bring us through this as he has through all other
difficulties of our country"
President Lincoln, a man of spirituality but not of the church spoke often of leadership and other characteristics he thought of import.
'"While acting as their representative, I shall be governed by [the people's] will on all subjects upon which I have the means of knowing what their will is; and upon all others I shall do what my own judgment teaches me will best advance their interest".
Some of our 16th President's most penetrating words resound in his second inaugural address. With the coming end of hostilities, we were so lucky to have a "consensus" candidate, not the first in line, to have at our helm. He showed a sense of forgiveness on behalf of a tired and bloodied nation and showed what common purpose can do to heal a great nation from the inside.
"With malice toward none; with charity for all; with firmness in the right, as god gives us to see the right, let us strive on to finish the work we are in; to bind up the nation’s wounds; to care for him who shall have borne… the battle, and for which may achieve and cherish a just and lasting peace among ourselves, and with all nations".
This coming election cycle is one of county wide offices, regional school boards and municipal positions including a wide variety of posts such as Township Supervisor, Tax collector, members of the Boards of elections and so on.
Please take the time to ask questions, to investigate the candidates and to contemplate the qualities of the candidates for the public office.
I hope that you can see that the Area 4 Republican Committee shares your values, values your stance on the prudent use of your tax dollars and stands prepared to the tests of character that holding an office bring about. I look forward to hearing from you. Warmly,
